Al-Ikhbariyah Channel to be privatized

RIYADH: Culture and Information Minister Dr. Adel Al-Toraifi, chairman of the board of directors of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), chaired the 8th meeting of the board in the presence of its members at his office in Riyadh on Sunday.
At the outset, Al-Toraifi delivered a speech in which he welcomed all the members, hoping that the board’s meetings would result in the agency’s progress and development.
Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein, the president of Saudi Press Agency and vice chairman of the board of directors, briefed the board on the most important achievements during the last period and reviewed the agenda.
The board discussed topics on its agenda and took a number of decisions, where it approved the entry of the Saudi Press Agency as a partner with Radio and Television Commission in the establishment of Al-Ikhbariyah Channel Company according to the procedures and regulations.

The board approved SPA’s closing account for the fiscal year 1436/1437 AH and authorized the SPA president or his deputy to complete the discussion between the SPA and a number of regional and international news agencies, and sign memorandums of cooperation with them.
